Expressions Sheet

Good news! I finally bought a scanner today and i’m really happy with it! (Canon Lide 700f, if anyone is wondering) No more shoddy iphone photos for me!
I’m trying to scan everything right now, including a bunch of old art I did last year. So expect tons of art over the next few days/weeks/eternity.
Anyway, here is an expressions assignment i did for my 1st year character design class.

Thumbelina

This was a really cute assignment I did for my illustration class! Anyway, this is some concept work for a Thumbelina storybook, done with colorpencils and tweaked up with Photoshop.

Persephone

Greek mythology is amazing, and my favourite legend has always been the story of Persephone and Hades, so I decided to illustrate the main characters, to play around with costume design. This took way too long to finish (almost two weeks!), but I'm happy with how it turned out.

This is the first half of the project, the other half (which I'm working on right now) will feature Hades.

A close up of her face!

Searching for reference photos for this project was excruciating. I despise spiders, although I don't think I'd squish a Spider/Pocket-Watch hybrid...

(Watercolors on A3)

The result of my 1st year exam! The assignment was to take a famous figure and give them a completely different career choice. I chose Vincent van Gogh, as a clown.
